Sm. 8vo., First Edition thus, with half-title and title in red and black, small neat contemporary signature on blank preliminary; handsomely bound in contemporary full brown calf, sides with multiple frame borders in gilt and blind stopped at corners by rosettes, back elaborately tooled in gilt, old label missing (but all lettering entirely legible in blind), marbled edges, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, a remarkably bright, crisp, clean copy of this most attractive edition. A CRISP COPY OF THE FIRST MODERN ACCOUNT OF THE CRUSADES IN ENGLISH. Based on the third edition of 1647 and printed by Whittingham at the Chiswick Press, this is a beautiful edition from Pickering at the height of his powers.
