8vo., First Edition, with coloured frontispiece, title in red and black, and 3 coloured plates, free endpapers very lightly browning at edges; elegantly bound in blue full crushed morocco BY SANGORSKI & SUTCLIFFE, sides with gilt frame border, back with five raised bands ruled in gilt, second and third compartments ruled and lettered in gilt, all other compartmnents ruled in gilt, gilt edges, doublures framed in gilt, backstrip very lightly sunned else a most attractive copy ideal as a gift or for presentation. THE BINDING IS SIGNED ON FRONT LOWER DOUBLURE. The author's first book for children; this original edition is far scarcer than its later US counterpart with illustrations by Tasha Tudor. A BEAUTIFUL COPY IN A NOTABLE SIGNED BINDING. VERY SCARCE.
