"The Sherman Edition", document number 394 of the Office of the Chief of Staff. Illustrated with a number of drawings and sketches and with printed music for bugle calls. Small 8vo, publisher's original navy blue ribbed cloth, the upper cover lettered in gilt. 260 pp. A very attractive and well preserved copy of a book rarely found in nice condition due to it use in field. The text is clean and fresh with little evidence of use, the cloth is rich in colour, the binding sturdy and sound and just a touch mellowed by time. Previous owner's neat signature in two places.

Edizione: an american infantry drill book, "the sherman edition", from the first world war, and a copy in far nicer than is typical. the illustrations include a lesson in semaphore, rifle parts, and a manual for bayonet use.
