Contemporary wrappers with title and colophon within a thin woodcut frame on the front and back covers (slightly stained the front cover). Good, uncut and unopened copy.
Baruffaldi's poems on the meaning of the italian word 'sughi' and on the 'nozze saccheggiate'.Girolamo Baruffaldi was born in Ferrara in 1675 to Nicolò and Caterina Campi. His father was an antiquarian and a scholar of Ferrara's history. He was ordained priest in 1700, but he always maintained a passion for archaeology, historical research, and poetry. The work for which he is best known today is his research on the history of Ferrara. Among his major works are a Storia di Ferrara, the Commentario storico-erudito, and the Vite dei pittori e scultori ferraresi. He was also one of the most skilled poets of his time. He died in 1755.
