Sm. 8vo., First Edition, on laid paper, with a folding coloured frontispiece, 4 plates in monochrome and illustrations in the text; original cerise cloth, upper board and backstrip lettered in black, backstrip lightly browned else a very good, clean copy. Published to commemorate the firm's centenary. The frontispiece depicts 'The remarkable characters who were at Tunbridge Wells with Richardson in 1748 from a drawing in his possession'. The characters include Johnson, Tetty Johnson, Mrs. Cibber, Garrick, Mrs. Thrale, Pitt and others. Scarce. Bennett, p.352.
