Descrizione

8vo., First Edition, with numerous photographs and full-page plan in the text; original pictorial wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, covers very lightly age-soiled else a very good, clean copy. With numerous trade advertisements (many illustrated) and commercial 'advertorials' at end. Otto's own account of the planning, construction and control of the vast modern railway layout exhibited at the Model Railway Exhibition at Eastbourne in 1957. The layout features all forms of landscape (including a volcano), Swiss Mountains, German Terminus, Airport, Harbour, Uranium Mine, Trix-Town, Dockland, America (Grand Central), Lilliput Land, Space Station, City of the Future and even a POW camp! Otto went on to create the world's greatest model railway for the New York World Fair in 1964. This display was later exhibited at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu before mocing to a permanent home in Ireland in 1996. Otto describes his achievement in considerable detail, naming manufacturers, suppliers and assistants, and providing in some cases step-by-step instructions of construction and adaptation. An absolute must for the railway modeller, and a rare survival.
