Aus der Bibliothek von Prof. Wolfgang Haase, langjigem Herausgeber der ANRW und des International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT) / From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Gutes Ex./ good condition - Euripides Suppliant Women and Hera-clidae owe their low place in modern esteem to Schlegel, who made the shattered image of Euripides the pedestal for the monument of Aeschylus. Despite the appreciation of scholars like Wilamowitz, later criticism has been dominated by Schlegels opinion. Scholarship has something to make good here. Assessed by their own standards the two plays stand out as a variety of Greek tragedy in which the problems of human fellowship become the material for art, and in this sense it is permissible to call them political plays. - Englisch. // EA. - INHALT : PREFACE. --- PART I --- CHAPTER ONE.
