2 vols., 8vo., First Edition thus, with engraved folding map as frontispiece, 7 folding engraved maps and plans, and engraved plan in the text, wanting blank preliminary to first volume, neat uniform contemporary signature on front free endpaper versos; attractively bound in contemporary full calf BY MARTIN OF EXETER, sides with double frame border stopped at corners by rosettes all in gilt, backs with raised bands, second and third compartments with double leather labels (black/red respectively) lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments richly tooled in gilt, marbled edges, marbled endpapers, gilt dentelles, doublures tooled in blind, boards mildly age-marked, backstrip gilt a little faded, wanting upper label of second volume (but lettering legible in blind), joints mildly rubbed else a remarkably bright, clean, crisp copy in wholly unrestored period binding. With the elaborate nineteenth-century personal pictorial bookplate of Edward Lewton Penny on front paste-down of first volume. The binding is signed on rear paste-downs. Prideaux's classic account was first published 1715-1717. VERY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.
