Sm. 8vo., First Edition, with coloured frontispiece, double-page coloured plate and 46 plates in monochrome, endpapers lightly browned; original series binding of navy cloth, upper board framed and lettered in gilt enclosing mounted coloured illustration (not repeated in text), gilt back, uncut, a very good, bright, clean copy. Published in Jack's profusely illustrated 'Shown to the Children' series, edited by Louey Chisholm. Launched in the heyday of Edwardian children's illustrated literature, this popular and colourful series was modelled closely on Black's 'Peeps At' books, whose enormous success it was intended to share.
