The original photograph and the texts have their origin in the Public Relations Division of Pan Am Airways itself. The company probably published these materials in the early 1970s: advertising with Pan Am's importance in the history of aviation. The photograph in a large format (ca. 24,2 x 30,4 cm) shows the christianing of the Pan Am Boeing Strato-Cruiser on March 5, 1949 by Margaret Truman, daughter of U.S. President Harry S. Truman. The present photograph was probably made around 1970. There is a longer title mounted at the back side of the photograph. Additionally there are three texts on the history of Pan Am as simple copies by the Pan Am Public Relations Division. The first text has the title: History of Pan American World Airways: Pioneer in Routes and Mass Transportation (8 pages). The second one is titled: Pan Am's Aviation "Firsts" (3 pages). The third text focusses the history of the planes directly: R.E.G. Davies - Pan Am's Planes (18 pages). Two of the texts have some notes inside, someone worked with them in the 1970s. Rare original photograph and authentic public relations material on Pan Am's history from early 1970s!
