8vo., First Edition thus, with portrait frontispiece, 3 plates and endpaper maps, long inscription on half-title; orange cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter with one small marginal nick, and minor loss (affecting lettering) at head of backstrip. This 'wartime economy' version is the first English edition of this big-game classic, first published in India in 1944 with profits devoted to blinded servicemen of WWII. Corbett's collection of true tales from the Raj is an undisputed keystone of big game hunting. THE UK EDITION IS FAR SCARCER THAN THE US EDITION, ESPECIALLY IN THE DUSTWRAPPER.
