First edition, 4to (253 x 194 mm), [4], 50, [2]pp., orig. publishers red buckram, bevelled boards with the Earl of Sandwichís gilt armorial stamp on upper cover, spine faded untrimmed, t.e.g. Produced at the instigation of the 8th Earl of Sanwich who then occupied the house. Lists of the pictures and contents that survived a disastrous fire in the mid 1830s, which is described. Further pictures were lost in recent times when some of them, mainly full lenghts, were in store and burnt in transit while being returned to Mapperton Manor, present home of the family.
