THE ONLY COPY PRINTED ON CHINESE PAPER of this extremely rare catalogue of artworks and curiosities left by Dr. Cavalier to the City of Montpellier. 3, VIII, 75 pp. plus frontispiece portrait in heliogravure. 306 items fully described. This copy was printed for Georges d'Aubénas, the author of the introduction, and is justified "seul exemplaire sur chine". Laid in are four proofs of the frontispiece portrait, including one on parchment. Also laid in is a fine original India ink drawing of item 103 ("aiguière arabe en bronze doré"), captioned but not signed, on fine laid paper. Large 4to. Uncut in original wraps, with large margins. Wraps a bit soiled. Minor (and inevitable) crinkling to upper margin of proof on parchment, which is of far larger format than the book. Internally fine and bright. A unique copy of a rare and fascinating book.
