4to (280 x 216 mm), 202pp., orig. printed wrappers, slightly soiled, 2923 lots. Auction catalogue of the contents of Rufford Abbey. Originally a Cistercian abbey, it was converted to a country house in the 16th century after King Henry VIIIís dissolution of the monasteries. Granted to George Talbot, the Earl of Shrewsbury and later it passed by marriage to the Yorkshire Savile family, and grew from a hunting lodge into a magnificent country house.
