First edition, 4to (294 x 228 mm), [4], 91, [5] p., [35] leaves of photogravure plates, floral endpapers, original publishers red cloth, title in gilt of upper cover, a.e.g. Scarce catalogue of the collection of 158 paintings arranged alphabetically, and given to each painter a brief notice as to his life and death and schools in which he studied. ìIn consulting the catalogue the visitor is required to observe the artistís name on the frame, and turn to the same in the catalogue, or the number in right hand bottom corner of each frame (generally), and consult the number at end of catalogue, in which will be found the page indicated wherein the particular picture described.
