First edition, 4to (256 x 200 mm), [4], viii, 915, [1]pp., with half-title, marbled endpapers, nineteenth-century full vellum, two red leather spine labels lettered in gilt, all edges dyed red, small split to upper joint otherwise a nice copy. A bibliography of books on astronomy in a chronological order, also indexed by names of authors and subjects. The first section (pages 1-660) is a bibliography of astronomical works, listed chronologically and starting with ancient Greek texts. Formats and page counts are provided for most books. The great works of Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo and Cassini are all included. On pages [661]-880 is a brief history of astronomy from 1781 to 1802. Provenance: From the C. W.
