First American edition, 337, [1]pp., advertisement leaf at end, name on upper blank margin of title, light toning of the text in places, contemporary cloth-backed marbled boards, calf label and spine chipped, uncut. ìPrichard was the first English psychiatrist who separated from the omnibus ëinsanityí a ënewí group of mental disorders which he called ëmoral insanityí and so added a new term to psychiatric nosography.î - Hunter and MacAlpine. *****He gave a brief description of it in an article in the ëCyclopedia of Practical Medicineí edited by J. Forbes, London, 1833-5, 11, p.12. This was afterwards enlarged into this famous ëTreatise on Insanity.í, first published in London in 1835.
