First edition, 4to (239 x 190 mm), 76pp., with half-title, recent calf-backed marbled boards, leather spine label lettered in gilt. James Carrick Moore (1763-1834) became an army medical officer and set up a surgical practice in London. He was a supporter of Edward Jenner, the pioneer of smallpox vaccination.
